This is not going to be a long post. I just wanted to briefly shout-out my other blog, ayakbg. And I’m shouting it out for a few reasons… Primarily, I will be posting to it on a somewhat regular basis (there should be three posts added to it by the end of this week). But also, it is a place for board game hobbyists and enthusiasts to coexist.
The term “ayak” stands for “assuming you already know”. Meaning that I am assuming you are already somewhat familiar with the board games I am talking about. So I won’t dive too deep into the rules, if at all. I did this intentionally. Often, I will watch YouTubers who are within the tabletop gaming community and A LOT of them will explain the rules to the games. Which is fine. But that is an oversaturated market, in my opinion. Rarely do they actually get down to their actual opinions on the games. I mean, a couple do (see: Foster the Meeple or Tablenauts)… But most of the board gaming content on YouTube feels stale these days. Dare I say, regurgitated.
And so, in an effort to stand out I decided to break the mold a bit and focus more on my experiences and opinions of the (board and card) games I play. Usually, I will still swiftly explain the game’s mechanics and rules in some capacity. But I try to keep the explanation to a bare minimum.
I would just post those “reviews” here (to PORTFOLIO), but I have different visions for ayakbg and PORTFOLIO. That’s why I’m doing it the way I’m doing it (for now).
So, if you want to continue supporting me and following my journey… Then, head on over there and see what I’m cooking up on the side. Otherwise, stick around here for other content. Such as… Movie reviews, video games, etc. Basically, this blog is for anything BUT board games. A bit confusing, I know. But there is a reason for this. One I’m not entirely comfortable sharing right now, but maybe one day I’ll pull back the curtain?
